I was just wrapping up my Sunday column, and the spellchecker in Word caught one little typo in it.
I had called S.C. Secretary of State Mark Hammond the "imbumbent."
Aw, what do computers know?

Brad…
Please send me a link to download your own personal version of spell check. It will be invaluable in my ongoing efforts to hunt R.I.N.O.s! When I type “imbumbent” – it doesn’t catch the mistake but, instead, it links me to Wapsters New World Pictionary.
It says the word “imbumbent” is from the Latin, “imbum” (to insist on pushing papers around) and the Norwegian, “bent” (to refuse to stand while pushing papers around); and shows a photo of Mr. Hammond and defines imbumbent as:
1. A bumbling career politician who is lucky to occupy an office (very different than performing the duties of that office)
2. One who is bent over so as to rest on or touch an underlying surface
Just thought you may want to check your spell checker!

Maybe a “Freudian” slip? Mark WHO? But one thing for sure “imbumbent” sure fits Mr. Hammond better than incumbent! After watching him on the ETV debate last week I can not imangine him representang me as my SOS!
