I voted at 10 AM just as the rain started falling here in Charleston. I was the 33rd person to vote in my precinct. I don’t know what it means but of the 33, 27 had voted in the Republican primary and 6 had voted in the Democratic primary.

Is anyone really surprised? The choices are lousy, and , quite frankly, I don’t think any of them will better SC.

OK, at 1:30 in the Grenadier precinct in Lexington County, approximately 125 people had voted in the Republican primary, 30 or so in the Democratic primary.

The turnout was very slow at my polling place in Richland County, which is disappointing because this state has so many problems. I don’t think the candiates are all that bad. For governor, both Oscar and Moore have potential. I think Staton seems sharp. I know nothing about ag, but liked what Bell was saying.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to improve a sense of good citizenship and get people to turnout?
Other countries make voting day a holiday; some extend voting over a few days. I was in Australia a while back, and voting was MANDATORY for all citizens. I was told you could get a “ticket,” or small fine if you didn’t vote.

My good friend Rick Quinn called me around 4:15 p.m. to urge his friends in Lexington County to vote.
Well, actually, he had a recorded message call my phone. But, he apologized for the recording!
It seems that he “just heard” that voting is light. He wanted as many Lexington County voters to get out and vote for him.
Too bad he wasted his call on me. I wouldn’t vote for him if he was running for dog catcher.

Oh, yes, the turnout at my Lex Co. polling place seemed light at 3:45 p.m. but I didn’t ask.
Andre was sitting outside with his foot propped up on a bench chatting with cronies.
I’m not sure why he chose my precinct to appear at. I’m sure that there are other Rethug strongholds that he’d where he’d be more effective.
