Enough with the silly pictures

OK, in response to my readers’ justified cry for a little dignity, I will post no more silly pictures (unless, of course, they are really, really silly, and it would be a crime to pass on them). And I think y’all are completely right. This blog should be better than that. It was an experiment in different ways to communicate using this medium, and I think I exceeded the envelope on acceptability.

In fact, I will take down the offending posts, if y’all think I should go that far.

I’ll give the voting until the end of July 4th. Say whatever you like, but be sure to include a clear "yes" or "no" rather than leaving it up to me to interpret your comments. No hanging chads here.

Brad, are you serious? Can you possibly be serious? If you have even a suspicion that the images should be taken down, why wait 30 days? Surely you know that in 30 days your 2 posts will be so far down the list that nobody would even remember they were there. In the meantime, your images will be there for anyone to use. What if another blogger were to put up a terrible image of you and said it would be taken down if enough of the blog’s readers voted for the takedown over the next 30 days? Do you think that would be fair?

The end of July 4th is not 30 days. It’s three.
But I tell you what. Rather than do this little experiment in democracy, I’ll go ahead and take them down. You’ve convinced me.

    Too bad.
I didn’t see anything wrong with them on this blog.
If you had some of Bill Clinton or someone the posters didn’t like, they’d be all for posting them.
    People are funny.

Whoa! I didn’t think you should have taken the whole posts down. I just didn’t think it would be fair to keep on doing them . . .

That’s pretty cool, LexWolf. How do you do that? It might be good for me to post things occasionally that I’m not sure whether I should put out for general consumption, but I could give readers who request it a “back door” to it.
Or something. Anyway, after more than a year, I’m still having fun learning about this blogging thing.

I had your blog open on 2 different computers so when you deleted those 2 threads, I could still access them on the other computer on which I hadn’t refreshed the thread list yet. That was a onetime thing, of course. Otherwise you could simply copy the URLs that all your threads have into a document and you’d be able to find the thread even though you “deleted” it.
This type of thing doesn’t necessarily work on all blogging platforms. On some other platforms your threads would be totally deleted.
BTW, does your platform have an option that would let posters edit their comments? If so, could you or would you turn it on?
