"Disinformation," I thought.
I know it’s disrespectful of the dead, and I do feel guilty about that, but the truth is that when I heard the news this morning of Howard Hunt’s death, my very first thought was:
"Do you really believe he’s gone?"
I know, I know: I’ve read way too many spy novels… There’s that, and the fact that I started my career in the middle of the whole Watergate thing.
What a wasted post.
What a wasted comment.
But don’t feel bad — my assessment means no more than yours. I’m being like, ya know, ironical.
I don’t think anyone’s interested in talking about Hunt. His 15 minutes were used up 30 years ago. So I’m going to change the subject.
What IS important is the State of the Union Address. What was especially interesting to me was the the president’s proposal for health care. It was so complicated I don’t know whether it helps or hurts me. The complexity of all these tax code ideas should be sufficient to kill them from the start. Let’s just have a single payer system (with certain deductibles) where everyone has health insurance without all this mumbo jumbo. It you’re sick the government pays most of your medical bills, period. What is wrong with that?
My first thought was “Valerie Plame”.Watergate in reverse. The very real possibility of a Cheney impeachment, and if justice prevails,a double-impeachment!President Pelosi?
Brad,
Did you ever read “The Spy Who Got Away” by David Wise?
It’s exactly what the ludicrous post deserved.
