Patterson on “Homeboy” Clyburn

In Washington and all over South Carolina, everybody is falling all over themselves so talk about what a big shot Jim Clyburn is, now that he’s the U.S. House majority whip.

But not Kay Patterson, who has a few home truths to share about his "Homeboy" Jim. He provides an excellent example of the quotation he cites from a prophet having no honor among his own. Of course, it’s all in fun…

This was at the Urban League‘s annual MLK Day breakfast, which is sponsored by the former BellSouth, and hosted this year at Brookland Baptist‘s new banquet and convention facility in West Columbia. It’s a very nice facility, although the lighting is sort of low for videographic purposes…

Let’s wait and see if Jim can get that bridge over the swamp built. All in all, Clyburn seems like a decent guy, but he knows pork.

Jim Clyburn is an ultra-liberal, fat cat democrat whose seniority has washed him into a position of power. I don’t believe he has any essential qualifications for this position, I think he’s simply stuck around long enough that it became “his turn,” and we will be the worse for it. Jim is a huge tax-and-spender, and is either too obstinate, self-absorbed or dense to admit he’s wrong about the bridge, and let it go. Believe me, his inability and or unwillingness to be big about it and admit he’s been wrong on the bridge does NOT bode well for our future. But it IS fairly typical of Mr. Clyburn…a relatively small man who has outlived his competiton and blundered into a position of leadership. Of course, Nancy (Wonder Woman) Pelosi is sweet on despicable people like Jack Murtha, so what can we expect? Ed

Upon reading over my last post I realized I may have sounded unfair to Jim Clyburn. Believe me, I fully understand that the force which washes just about ANY Speaker, Majority Whip or whatever else into power in the Congress is seniority…and that this is true for both democrats and republicans. Two things make Jim Clyburns’ rise more offensive and threatening than others however. First is all the hoopla and froth about the “historical significance” his appointment represents, because he is a black man. While it does happen to be a first, it is a first of happenstance, and it represents no real significance….again, he is majority whip primarily because he’s been around a long time…longer than almost all others. Skin color notwithstanding. Second, see above. He’s a huge liberal, and will soon have his hand more deeply thrust into our pockets. Republicans are essentially no better, but let’s not get all foamed up about Clyburn…he’s simply been in line the longest, and it amounts to more than that. Send in the clowns. Ed

Kudos to the Democrats. They are finally reversing the policies of corporate welfare that we’ve suffered under for the past six year. Way to go guys. This from CNN:
House Democrats finish ‘100 hours’ agenda by passing oil revenue bill
WASHINGTON (CNN) — House Democrats brought their “100-hour” legislative agenda to a successful close Thursday evening with passage of legislation designed to force oil and gas companies to pay more royalties on some offshore leases and end subsidies and tax deductions they have been receiving amid record prices for crude.
The final vote on the bill — the sixth of six items Democrats had vowed to pass in 100 hours of legislative action — was 264 to 163, with 36 Republicans crossing the aisle to support the Democrat-sponsored bill.
The House finished work on all six measures in about 42 hours of floor time, less than half the limit set on their self-imposed clock. However, the legislation must still navigate the Senate, which tends to operate at a more leisurely pace, and could also face President Bush’s veto pen.

Jim Clyburn is the creation of a racial district created by the GOP to take black voters out of two other districts and give the GOP a chance at 2 Congressional seats.
Clyburn leapfrogged his way to the top of a do-nothing state agency by political appointment, rather than hard work. He is totally unqualified for his current position, as well.

Kay Patterson, state senator from South Carolina quoted in Sunday’s Denver Pest 01/20/2008:
“South Carolina is a polarized state…No one will ever make me believe a whole lot of Republicans are going to vote for Obama, or a person of color.”
so he is just flat out calling all Republicans racists, isn’t he?…isn’t that outrageous?
what’s more, you can’t find this quote in any online denver pest article, or it doesn’t come up in any other search engines I have tried…that looks a little suspicious to me…some quote this inflammatory seems to be being buried
