Kos makes SURE Dodd’s dead in S.C.

… As if that were necessary. I just got this from the Dodd campaign:

FYI – In case you missed it, MSNBC reported in its First Read that Chris Dodd earned a vote from Markos Moulitsas, founder of the influential Daily Kos, in a recent straw poll.
KOS VOTES FOR DODD

From NBC’s Domenico Montanaro
We reported earlier that Daily Kos held a Democratic presidential straw poll Sept. 24. Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas said he voted for someone and had the site’s viewers vote on who they thought he voted for. Turns out he voted for Dodd.

Kos: "I voted for Chris Dodd. Only 22% of you got that right? I thought it’d be more obvious than that. Not that this means he’s likely to get my vote in February. I don’t throw away my votes, so unless he’s become surprisingly competitive in January, I’ll be looking elsewhere. It just means he really outshone the other candidates these past few weeks and made me think, for the first time in a while, ‘THIS is how I want my nominee to sound.’

"Oh, and I won’t do an ‘endorsement’ in this race. I assume you have your own brains to guide you in that process."

Just what we need: A candidate that a self-proclaimed prophet of the loony left thinks is shiny.

Here are a few things the “looney left” believes in:
    Privacy rights
    Health insurance for all
Sensible tax policies that lead to fiscal responsibility
Fair trade policies that help everyone worldwide prosper
Distribution of the nations wealth that recognizes everyones contribution to the building of that wealth
A sensible energy policy that will reduce our dependence on foreign oil
A foriegn policy that will not waste American lives and treasure in futile and counterproductive attempts at nation building
Worldwide justice and security for all persons, not just those who live in nations that control oil wealth
Domestic policies that promote safety in places like the workplace and on the highways
Recognition that the government should not be held hostage to corporate greed
Recognition that a woman holds sway over her own body, not some government beauracracy.
Count me as a proud member of the “looney left”, a group of folks committed to the betterment of all mankind.

Groupthink? I think I’ve just been ridiculed. Oh well, it goes with the territory.
If you honestly evaluate the facts the “looney left” has been correct most of the time.
Iraq – No WMD, just as the looney left said.
Iraq II – Military would become engulfed in quagmire. Looney left actually fell short of predicting the complete disaster that has ensued.
Health Care – looney left’s plan rejected in 93 and health care costs have soared while availability has declined. Life expectancy in U.S. continues to fall behind other industrial nations.
Energy – Looney left predicts higher gasoline prices due to peaking of oil supplies. Stay tuned. This one will get much, much worse within 5 year.
Environment – Global warming would reek havoc on the world. Jury still out but evidence accumulating that such is the case.
If only everyone thought like those of us on the looney left we’d be so much better off.

Here’s my opinion of your list of “looney left” principles, Bud:
Privacy rights — safety to break the law in the privacy of one’s own home, car or anywhere outside the view of the police.
Health insurance for all — what you really mean is a free visit to the doctor without the hassle of doing paperwork.
Sensible tax policies that lead to fiscal responsibility — taxing the rich so that unemployed leftist idealogues can pay their bills.
Fair trade policies that would help everyone in the world prosper — I think Christ said “the poor will always be with you.” I’m not religious, but I’d follow him rather that Fidel or Che.
Sensible energy policy — Oh, sure, let’s reduce our dependence on foreign oil WITHOUT drilling in Alaska.
Foreign policy — I hate to break it to you, but run-and-hide AIN’T the best way to get along with the world.
Worldwide justice and security for all persons — Wouldn’t it be nice to have that in America before we loose it on the world?
Domestic policies that promote safety in the workplace and on the highways — Workers comp, speed limits. Duh.
Government hostage to corporate greed — Isn’t the government really held hostage by the entitled who pay nothing into the pot?
A woman holds sway over her own body, not some government bureaucracy — Well, of course. Why should a woman hold sway over some government bureaucracy?

Come to think of it if an ordinary woman did hold sway over some government breaucracy we’d probably be better off.
Nice try weldon but your answers are typical right-wing spin points, full of fear-mongering and utterly devoid of any facts. The best times ever for this country was during the Clinton adminstration. We were safer, healthier, more prosperous. All of which can be supported by data. It makes you wonder why everyone wouldn’t jump at the chance to have a Clinton back in the White House.
    HILLARY 2008 !!!!

I agree that we should drill in the ANWAR. Are you shocked? Problem is, it really won’t help much. Oil production world wide is peaking as we speak. No amount of drilling will change that. If we drill in the ANWAR, off the Atlantic coast and in the depths of the Gulf of Mexico we will still produce far less oil in the U.S. than we did in the 1970s. With twice as many people it’s easy to see how futile it is to drill our way out of this situation. Only with conservation and alternative energy source can we hope to achieve a level of energy independence.

Clinton reaped the benefit of 12 years of Republican presidencies that preceded him. Bush reaped the benefit of eight years of Clinton. Hello 9-11.
But, Bud, here’s one place I halfway agree with you. Women, as a rule, seem more fiscally responsible than men, so I could vote for a woman.
Unfortunately, the only woman running is a Democrat whose one effort at putting together a government program fell on its face.
Furthermore, methinks Hillary becoming president would violate the spirit of the two-term limit.
Lastly, after eight years of Bush mangling language, how could I stand four years of shrew?
