You’re a mean one, Mr. DeMint

And a good thing, too. But I’ve got to ask, is this the way to sell this?Grinch

… I promise to be your Grinch.  What does that mean?  I will stay "on guard," making sure they don’t try to slip anything past the American people.
$400 million dollar bridges to nowhere, multi-million dollar buildings
named after current congressmen and yes, believe it or not, a Hippie
Hall of Fame are all on their agenda to be snuck through before the
year ends…

Our junior senator is casting himself as the villain in a Yuletide drama over earmarks. Trouble with that is, I would think the guy who’s demanding some spending accountability would be the good guy.

Well, at least it’s an attention-grabber, and I suppose that’s the point. In this case, it’s also intended to be a money-grabber, as it’s a fund-raising gimmick for the senator.

Seems like there’s something contradictory in there somewhere — give me money so I can save you money — but then again, I guess that’s the whole basis of our economic system, and it would make more sense to me if I were a businessman. Which I’m not. Just in case you were harboring some serious delusions…

Hmm, when I tried that link I saw a version of that page that was hosted on your blog with no images. I went to his website to see if I could track down the original article, but I couldn’t find it.

Instead of ridiculing those who try to clean up corrupt government, why don’t some crusading journalists do a little reporting on government programs and jobs that can be abolished immediately, to pay for whatever new programs they think are so necessary?
Just try to imagine that the economy is so taxed out that it cannot take anymore increases, and spending has to actually be prioritized and programs abolished.
Wait!! That is the current economic reality. Just watch as the Democrats increase taxes and the economy goes flat – again.

“Ridiculing?” I thought I was giving him snaps, as the young folk might say.
You do understand, don’t you, that the “Grinch” thing is something Mr. DeMint put out himself, right?

None of that answers my question of why so few journalists and pundits make the effort to come up with government programs to cut and abolish, but so many of them are eager to support new ones spending.

It’s a whole lot better than the $4 million Lindsey Graham has collected for his campaign while not doing anything to cut wasteful government spending… and, in fact, pushing an amnesty plan that would increase government spending.
Did you know that prior to the Depression, total federal spending was less than all of the state and local government spending combined? It was less than 2% of GDP. Now, federal spending alone is 18-20% of GDP. How ignorant do you have to be in order to miss the correlation between government spending and wasted tax dollars?
I fully admit that I was wrong on DeMint. We need 99 more of him in the Senate. I wish Sanford would run against Lindsey next year…. THAT would be a real interesting race.

Don’t know why you provide “snaps” to a war monger who has consistently voted to fund a dramatic lie that has near bankrupted the country. The ear marks he is “saving” Americans from is like buying gas at the station that sells it for 1 cent less than across the street while driving a Hummer. Get some perspective why don’t you?

Yeah, Brad, it’s contradictory, just like “awful pretty.”
    Like “bad” to mean “good.”
Like your insistence you’re not a partisan when your bias against any Republican not named Graham or McCain stands out like a horsefly on marshmallow pie.

If it looks like a clown, talks like a clown, and walks like a clown, it must Christmas on the Hill. Pimps ‘n Ho’s on parade.
