Aw, that’s OK; I can wait a few minutes

Just got this come-on from the Democrats :

Dear Brad [they always call me "Brad"],
Barack Obama is about to choose his running mate, and you can find out who it is before the press, the pundits, or his opponents.
Sign up to be the first to know and you’ll receive an email the moment Barack makes his decision.
Or you can text VP to 62262 to receive a text message on your mobile phone.
Thanks to the energy and efforts of Democrats like you, we are in a great position to elect a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.
And if we stand together behind Barack and his nominee for Vice President, we won’t have to worry about another Dick Cheney playing the role of tie-breaker in the Senate.
No campaign or political party has made a VP announcement like this before, and you can be part of this important moment.

Click here to be the first to know who Barack picks.

After you’ve signed up, forward this message to your friends and family and tell them about this special opportunity.
Barack’s campaign is transforming politics in this country and helping Democrats up and down the ballot in all 50 states.
Thanks for everything you’re doing to bring the change this country needs,
J.B. Poersch
Executive Director
Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee

Hey, at least I forwarded it to my friends, right?

I wonder which of the following is true:

  • People are so wired now to know things right this second that they’ll subject themselves to future fund-raising come-ons to be among the first few million to know.
  • People think it’s cheesy, but will sign up anyway to be part of the Inner Circle.
  • This is way off base, and won’t get a single bite.

As for me — I can wait; thanks. I’m sure someone will tell me soon enough.

Names I’d like to see on the ticket with Obama:
    1) Mayor Bloomberg
    2) General Wesley Clark
    3) Colin Powell (rumored to be endorsing Obama)
    4) Robert Rubin
    5) Jim Webb
    6) Jon Stewart
I might vote for Obama if he made a bold move like that. Unfortunately, he’s going to go the safe route and pick some
bland white guy like Bayh, Biden, or Kaine.
And it’s not going to matter anyway. Based on recent polling, there are only about ten states where the race is up in the air. It’ll come down to Florida/Ohio/Missouri again…

Slightly off subject I go, but only slightly.
No matter who Obama’s VP pick is, the prospect of the Democrats having the “filibuster-proof majority in the Senate” mentioned above fills me with dread.
That’s like giving the fox the keys to the henhouse for two years.

I sure wish Obama would pick Hillary. She’d help him stop the bleeding. Someone needs to go after McCain before it’s too late. Apparently the gullible voters in this country are buying all the right-wing crap. Hillary, along with Bill, could serve as the perfect attack dogs and actually tell the truth about Mr. Maverick. McCain was part of the Keating 5. He is apparently still relying on the repulsive Phil Gramm for economic advice. He promises 100 years of war. His party has been in charge of the worst housing crises since the 1930s. Worst of all, he’s flipped on the torture issue. And on it goes. Besides, he’s just soooooo old. Hillary would be the best person to bring out all the negatives in John McCain. And, unlike the McCain camp, she wouldn’t even have to lie about it.

John McCain said in an interview with Politico on Wednesday “that he was uncertain how many houses he and his wife, Cindy, own.”
    -Huffington Post
Here’s a good example of what the Dems can do. Apparently McCain is so completely out of touch with reality he doesn’t even know how many houses he owns. He wants to give huge tax cuts to the very wealthy while basically giving nothing to those making less than 100k. It’s clear who’s side McCain is on and it ain’t the folks who have to get up every morning to make a living. Obama’s VP choice should be someone who’s not afraid to tell the truth. That truth is that McCain doesn’t give a damn about working class Americans.

    Bud,
Stop trying to bring down John McCain with his own words. Just because he has to ask his staff how many homes he owns doesn’t necessarily make him rich, out of touch, or a typical politician. The only thing you can talk about when it concerns John McCain is that he was a P.O.W. That’s it. Get with the program.

    From an AP wire report:
    > The McCains increased their budget for
    >household employees from $184,000 in 2006 to
    >$273,000 in 2007, according to John McCain’s
    >tax returns.
A quarter million dollars a year for hired help.
I’m sure Senator McCain truly understands the plight of the average working man.
