Freedom, man. Just freedom…

Thought I’d share this with you. Saw this dude going east on Gervais today.

Figured he was making some sort of a statement. Thought I’d amplify it for him. Not sure what it is, but I figure it’s just, “Freedom.” So, to all my libertarian friends — don’t say I never gave you anything.

As Jack Nicholson said in “Easy Rider,” “They’ll talk to ya and talk to ya and talk to ya about individual freedom. But they see a free individual, it’s gonna scare ’em.”

Speaking of that movie, I called this guy a “dude” above. Here’s the definition, as given by Captain America: “Dude means nice guy. Dude means a regular sort of person.”

Dude.

So were you parked when you took that photo? Or were you driving and photographing? There are laws against driving and texting, I’m sure it’s the same if you were driving and photographing.

    Steven, if you must know…

Remember the picture I took from my truck on Gervais when I drove past a little before 2 to see whether more people had turned up later for the Darla rally? A picture I took while stopped at the red light at Gervais and Main?

Well, I had gone around the block and headed the other way, and still had the Blackberry in my lap, still ready to shoot a picture by just pressing a button. This guy was riding alongside me, and as he pulled ahead, I lifted the Blackberry and clicked it twice, quickly, WITHOUT AIMING, or in any way deflecting my attention. Then I put it back in my lap.

I would have been more distracted if I’d changed the channel on my radio. It took about as much as glancing in that direction and thinking, “There’ a guy with a flag on a motorcycle.”

And when I next came to a red light, I picked it back up, and saw that I’d gotten lucky with my aim. And decided to share it with y’all.

And Maude — of COURSE I’ve seen your movie. Twice.

As for being a dude — Jeff Miller’s a member of that club, for sure…
