‘There goes that Obama, undermining initiative…’

Twitter drew me to this picture (which I’m not actually placing on the blog because I can’t afford to pay what AP demands for rights to pictures), which had this caption:

President Barack Obama helps a little boy roll his egg to the finish line during the annual White House Easter Egg Roll, Monday, April 9, 2012, on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington. In the background, at left are Malia Obama and Sasha Obama. (AP Photo/Carolyn Kaster)

As soon as I read that, even before I saw the picture itself, I could imagine what the GOP commentary on the image would be like: Obama undermines individual initiative, picks winners in state-run event.

In the next wave, we’d hear, And look at how the media made that little boy look so precious and harmless! Why didn’t they wait until he was 17, and get him in a hoodie with facial hair?

Do you think I’m exaggerating?

The letters in today’s The State about Trayvon martin–talking about “Caucasian rights” while ignoring that the cases of black perpetrators are just that –CASES, while Trayvon Martin’s murder remains uncharged.

Look, if you help little kids roll their Easter eggs, they’ll come to expect the gummint to help them ….with apologies to Andre “Stray Animals” Bauer and Bobby “No Medicaid” Harrell…well, no apologies, actually….

There are GOP/dem moderates out there. Just none of them have any following because the money is in catering to the far right or far left.

    “Do you think I’m exaggerating?”

Nope, just reporting it as a typical liberal journalist. Can you do audio tape editting, there’s an opening at NBC.

I’m guessing this is just another example of the government stepping in and providing for someone who if left alone could get the job done without the government’s help.

Funny what happens when you don’t use a current photo. Is the media still using the 1970 photos of Charles Manson? This is like when I see obituaries of people where the picture is their 1926 high school senior picture.

Well, your link to the photo goes to something else completely unrelated. And a little scary if it’s on your Amazon wishlist.

I think I’ve fixed the lInk now. That was for my answer to a comment (about nail guns) on a previous post.

Wasn’t that the premise for the movie “Nailed” that was filmed in Columbia but never released? Jessica Biel and Jake Gillenhayl starred in it. Wonder what ever became of that project?

Here’s the synopsis. Apparently production was shut down several times and I guess the thing was never completed. From Wiki:

Nailed is a political comedy co-written by Kristen Gore which stars Jessica Biel, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tracy Morgan, Catherine Keener, Paul Reubens, Josh Brolin and Kirstie Alley. Production was delayed or shut down four times, for reasons ranging from on-set conflict that resulted in James Caan quitting the film, to financial trouble that led IATSE to shut down production because the crew was not getting paid.[19][20][21] The movie revolves around the character of Alice Eckle (played by Jessica Biel) who gets accidentally shot in the head with a nail by a clumsy workman, eliciting wild sexual urges. The uninsured Eckle goes on a crusade to Washington to fight for the rights of the bizarrely injured. She meets an immoral congressman (Jake Gyllenhaal) who takes advantage of her sex drive and capitalizes on her crusade as Eckle heads into her own career in politics.[22]

Apparently Rick Santorum is calling it quits. With Gingrich doing pretty much the same thing Romney is the man. Now I can gloat having predicted this all along except for a couple of times when I rated his odds about even with one or the other candidate. It’s just so hard to beat the guy whose turn it is in the GOP. Why is that?

@bud – One scene is still needed to finish the film. The scene in the restaurant where Biel is actually shot with the nail gun… kind of an important scene to the movie. It’ll likely never be completed. I know a couple people who were extras in it and from what I can tell there are dozens of mistakes just in the short scenes they were in and will likely never make it to the big screen if ever released.

Obama or a RINO named Romney… either way we’re screwed. It’s a sorry world where this is the best the Democratic and Republican parties can come up with.

  13. bud

Steven you’re right. Neither Romney nor Obama is nearly liberal enough. We need someone who is willing to soak the rich, increase spending to help get us out of the economic doldrums, bring our troops home from all foreign countries and cut the military budget by 50%. Not going to happen but that’s what we need.

@bud – “Neither Romney nor Obama is nearly liberal enough” – you owe me one keyboard.

And all this time I thought Bill Clinton was the President, not a congressman. You never know do you?
