This is my favorite official reaction, so far, to Nikki Haley announcing she had chosen Tim Scott to replace Jim DeMint.

Throughout our years in public service, I have been fortunate enough to establish a friendship with Tim. I cannot imagine a more deserving and credible candidate to replace Senator Jim DeMint. I look forward to continue working with Tim Scott and the rest of the South Carolina delegation to promote the ideas of limited government and expanded freedom.”
… which is not nearly as much fun.

Maybe Wilson’s people were desperate to see if anyone actually reads his press releases and this was the only way they could think of to measure “views.”
I hoped that, with the immediatecy of the mass shootings in mind, Joe Wilson would have criticised Nikki Haley for naming someone who is on record for seeing absolutely no need for gun control under any circumstances.
Obviously I am a complete idiot.
