Late in the afternoon Saturday, I sent out the above picture with the challenge,
My HQ today is @yesterdayssc in case any of my blog peeps care to join me. And if ye don’t, yer an eejit…
But none of y’all showed. At least not immediately. I only waited about another half-hour.
Sorry about the “eejit” thing. It was the only Irish-sounding put down I could think of. I get it from Roddy Doyle.
Saturday was a quick-in, quick-out deal for me, compared to my usual habits on this day. I had been uncertain that I would attend at all. My son’s band was going to play at Henry’s up the street, but one of his bandmates had a death in the family the night before and they had to cancel the gig. I did run into a couple of his present and former bandmates — these guys have played in a lot of bands together over the years — at Yesterday’s, sans instruments.
It was a beautiful day for it. Sorry I missed y’all.
I was enjoying a beautiful day with my 7yo instead of dodging loud, stinking, vomiting drunks who used the yards of my friends in Shandon as toilets. Men and women.
Fuddyduddy.
I agree with Rose. I live in Shandon and this is the first year out of four I haven’t found someone in my yard peeing, semiconscious or bleeding. From the condition of his pants I once found someone doing all all of those things in my yard at one time, although the peeing part was probably over when I found him…not my favorite holiday.
For the last seven years (this being the seventh year) my wife and I host an outdoor party in our backyard for our friends and their children. Most all of our friends now have children under five.
We have games, an inflatable bounce-house for the kids, and drinks for the adults. Everyone brings a food item, and I do the main course. This year, I did a 12lb. Jameson-Pineapple glazed ham on my Weber smoker.
Aiken, visiting my parents….it gets annoying over here near Ground Zero….
I was at the parade, and thoroughly enjoyed it, as usual. Didn’t see you though, or I would have introduced myself. A friend uploaded a video to fb of bagpipers at Yesterdays, so hope you didn’t miss that since you were there.
I wasn’t there for the parade. My daughter took the picture of my grandson waving at the tractor…
Hardly any trash in our yard this year…though in front of our house we did see the cops put the cuffs on a young lady and take her away in the police car while they continued to search her car (a mini-Cooper). This was 11:30 AM by the way.
So maybe the new policy barring re-entry helped…
Y’all live a ways away, Philip! Wow!
Our first date was the first St. Paddy’s in Five Points, and we missed it for the first time in years this year. Sat in the sun and read instead.
I was at the state museum and then at Granby locks on the Cayce Riverwalk with my 7 year old nephew. We had a great day. We found a luna moth cocoon and a gray tree frog. He was in the parade with his school earlier, but I didn’t go.
I used to go much more frequently when I was younger and when you didn’t have to pay to get in. I enjoyed 1995 best I think when I saw Jump, Little Children for the first time.
A Luna Moth cocoon!! Cool! The frogs are singing extra loudly after the recent rains!
Oh wow! We’ve spotted the moths but never a cocoon.
I have a confession to make. I believe I was wrong. Upon doing more research, I now think it is a Polyphemus Moth cocoon. Still very cool. But I apologize for the error. If I knew how to put a picture in here I would, but instead, here is a link with a picture that looks like the one we found:

Ours was on the end of a River Birch branch.
