Well, I hate to do back-to-back Open Threads like this, but it’s a busy week.

Here’s what I’m seeing out there…

  1. Judge stops firing of SC State president — What a mess, I confess. So… is there anything anyone can do about this situation? Not that I think firing this guy who didn’t actually create the mess is the solution…
  2. High Court Divided at Health-Law Argument — Does it bother anyone else when reporters and editors try to guess how the court will rule based on the hearing? It’s always kinda bugged me…
  3. U.S. Calls on Ferguson to Overhaul Its Justice System — The cop at the center of the probe was cleared of wrongdoing, but the whole city government was essentially indicted in this report.

Anything else y’all want to mention?

Guessing on the High Court’s ruling is no worse than all the pre-election horse race stuff, and most future-facing punditry. I pretty much avoid that, after realizing so much of it was wrong.

I read the transcript of the King v. Burwell oral argument today. Pretty interesting stuff if you’re a law-geek. I may post a few thoughts over on my little corner of the webola.

Short prediction from me is that Kennedy will be the deciding vote, but that ain’t exactly breaking news, is it?

I thought Hillary’s e-mail issue would merit a mention, if for no other reason that the sheer strangeness of it.

Thought experiment: If Hillary bows out of the Presidential race, where does the enthusiasm (and the money) on Democratic side go?

I hope it goes to whomever Pastor Manning anoints. Just for the giggles.

Here is the Porch Monkey tape. Please be patient. It’s worth it.

I didn’t think of including the Hillary thing because we had discussed it some on a previous thread — but of course we haven’t exhausted the subject, not by a long shot. In fact, I think we’ll be discussing it for quite some time.

I want to know what Eric Hoteman has to say about it…

Here’s a thought – if you have any hope for a single payer healthcare system in the U.S., you might WANT to root for Obamacare to lose the current Supreme Court case. The longer Obamacare becomes the standard, the less likely it will be replaced.

Personally, I’d take single payer over Obamacare.. as long as the taxes used to pay for it were like Medicare – a flat rate. No tiered tax rates based on income.
