Not much to say about this; just thought I’d share it:
Wow. Just, wow. "School said son suffered a concussion; parents sued to get him back on field" via @washingtonpost https://t.co/hgdkdKbSNP

I’ll let y’all supply the commentary…
It never ceases to amaze me at how litigious our society has become.
Yeah, those blasted lawyers… 🙂
Well, I have a amazingly sorry opinion of lawyers (and I worked for group of them for several years) – but
I am sure the same lawyer would have sued the school district had the young man experienced any lasting memory issues.
Right. The lawyers aren’t the problem here. They are merely the tools being utilized.
That’s the ticket! Think of a lawyer as a Tool… 🙂
Note that 🙂 , all you lawyers who are inclined to file libel suits!
But I think I’m safe here. My professor in Mass Media Law said it’s difficult to libel a group that includes more than 100 people (although it probably CAN be done, if you really try).
Of course, that one course is pretty much the extent of my formal legal education, so consider the source…
Think of us like guns.
Some people argue the only way to stop a bad guy with a lawyer is for the good guys to also have lawyers. 🙂
Next, you’ll argue that we should allow lawyers in our schools and churches — and our bars…
Only if they stay concealed.
Well, I haven’t needed one in over 40 years and hope it continues.
One of my former buddies – who was a lawyer- use to say to me when I told him that “all lawyers aren’t scum, just most of them” …..
“Nah, all of them are scum. You just don’t like admitting your friends with a scumbag”
he had a lower opinion of lawyers than I do- and that’s hard.
On a similar note
The one career choice I have told my high school aged son that I would not recommend (would disapprove of) is law. He had once mentioned it – but thankfully it passed.
He has the grades for a variety of good careers it seems. Engineering/computer science is most likely now. Thank goodness.
My favorite time at parties is when people stand around and tell all sorts of lawyer jokes and otherwise complain about lawyers. Then, without fail, near the end of the party, someone in that same group pulls me aside and says something like: “Seriously though, I have this little problem that I was wondering if you could help me with….”
Never fails.
What would the world be like without high conflict personalities?
I am sure that does happen quite often.
Sadly, too many people can’t handle things appropriately or won’t learn to do it themselves.
You can sue almost anyone, but your chances of winning may be lower than the Powerball lottery..
Depends on what “winning means.”
Winning in court? Most lawyers aren’t remotely interested in going to court. They want to settle, settle, settle. Of course, that’s how they make their money.
When I worked at a law firm, those guys rarely ever went to court. The folks at the courthouses knew me much better than they did any lawyer in the firm where I worked. It was a very rare occasion they ended up in front of a judge of any kind. They would avoid that like the plague. Oh, they were willing – if you asked them. In practice it was a very different reality.
Shucks, going to court is the fun part.
What kind of work did that law firm do?
Personal injury of course.
A little insurance defense.
Got to have hands in both jars.
There is a lot of self involved immature parenting going on out there. Clearly the parents are invested in something other than the best interest of the kid.
