ISIS claims responsibility for Brussels attacks; 31 dead

I don’t have time to say a lot about this, but I thought I’d best provide a place for y’all to discuss today’s terrorist attacks.

Here’s The Washington Post‘s main story.

Here is reaction from POTUS and from those who want to be POTUS, via NPR.

Here are some eyewitness accounts from The Guardian.

I’ll check in as the day wears on…

When does Belgium decide that it’s had enough of this? When does Europe decide that it’s had enough?

How many times do you have to get punched in the face and do nothing before you decide that you’ve had enough? I’m seeing lots of #JeSuisBelgium and #StandWithBelgium support today. That’s great.

    As for me? I’m #JeSuisSickofThisShit

Well, from what I’m reading, the situation in Belgium is dire. But the German drive to the Meuse is running out of steam a few clicks short of the objective, and the 101st is hanging on in Bastogne, with Patton almost in contact.

And yeah, I’m going to lend it to you when I’m done. Won’t be too much longer now…

I don’t think his skill set is a good match for the situation. The skills that enable a commander to pull back on an advance, pivot left and hurl an entire army effectively into battle in another direction in record time aren’t terribly relevant to our current situation.

He had other skills, to be sure. But making outrageous, ill-considered statements is pretty much covered by Trump these days. And if you need someone to slap a shell-shocked private, I’m sure Trump will oblige — or incite his followers to do it….

Of course, if we could persuade ISIL to pull all their fighters from across the world together and deploy them at one time on a plain in Iraq or Syria, Patton could make short work of them.

But they don’t fight that way.

Yeah, I wouldn’t ask GSP to go do counter-terror work in Belgium. I’d send him over to Raqqa with Third Army and let them roll it up.

That open desert in Syria would be a great theater of operations for an old horse-cavalryman like GSP. All that room for maneuver would be exactly what he would want. Remember, he pushed the Germans back across North Africa before Sicily and Normandy.

He’d have those ISIS guys whipped in a month if you gave him the right air support.
