Democratic Coalition Urges People to #BlackoutTrump During Speech Tonight
February 28th, 2017 – Washington, DC – The Democratic Coalition, part of Keep America Great PAC, today called on people to skip watching President Trump’s address to Congress. Using the hashtag #BlackoutTrump, the organization urged Americans to do something that will actually help “Make America Great Again.”
“Donald Trump cares about ratings more than he cares about this country and its people,” said Scott Dworkin, Senior Advisor to the Democratic Coalition. “Let’s send him a message by skipping his speech and instead working to help the people his administration is going to hurt.”
There are lots of ways to use the time that would otherwise be wasted watching the President talk about how terrible our country is. The Democratic Coalition provided a quick list:
-Plan your attendance at a townhall – if GOP members of Congress ever hold them again
-Get organized for campaign volunteer opportunities
-Volunteer to rebuild recently desecrated Jewish cemeteries or clean anti-Semiitc graffiti off houses of worship
-Make calls to raise money for organizations that help refugees
-Dine out at literally any restaurant in the nation (providing work for immigrants)
-Call your member of Congress urging them to keep ACA in place
-Volunteer to improve your local community
-Retweet/Share the hashtag #BlackoutTrump
-Review the Dossier on Trump’s connections with Russia, more of which gets confirmed dailyJarad Geldner, Senior Advisor of The Democratic Coalition added: “Though it will be closely watched in Russia, this speech doesn’t really mean anything to Americans. The President’s been in office an excruciating 39 days, but he hasn’t really accomplished anything beyond signing executive orders that scare people. We should all focus on ensuring that he cannot enact his agenda which aims to rob America of all its greatness.”
The hashtag was first deployed in late January, by deploying it today, the Super PAC intends to send the message that the American people are stronger and less divided than the White House would have us believe.

Really? You’re going to get rid of this guy by hurting his ratings? And you don’t think going in ignorance about the insane things he may say is a bit of a high cost to pay to accomplish that?

Yeah, great job. Evidently, you still have the same strategists running your organization…

Well, we can see from the election results their original effort was a total failure even though the claim about winning the popular vote is still floating around. While valid when the actual numbers are reported, the caveat is that the 3 million plus votes could be accounted for in one state, California. If Hillary had campaigned in Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, Pennsylvania, we wouldn’t be having this conversation, would we?
Now, does this renamed committee actually believe they are going to make a real difference? Most likely all they will accomplish is to push even more Trump supporters into his camp. When reports of a Trump supporter being physically attacked by anti-Trump people and her sign torn up and she is punched, what message is being sent to the flyover states? I thought liberals and Democrats were the people of love and peace, willing to listen to the differences and have a civil discussion/conversation with anyone who disagreed with them. Use common sense persuasion time and time again. No, instead they are now the ones using fascist tactics, resorting to violence, obscene vitriol, and every conceivable manner of anger toward anyone identifying as a Trump supporter.
I cannot abide bullies and rabid partisans at any level, no matter which side of the issue they support. That is not the way to persuade and convince people to convert to your side. If anything, it drives them away.
Donald Trump is who he is and he is not going to change. If you think he will and if he does, consider it a true miracle. Don’t continually attack Trump and especially his supporters. I don’t like Trump. I truly believe he is the worst possible person to ever occupy the White House but I also know there are millions who do not believe the way I and many others believe. They are convinced he is the answer and when someone believes that strongly, attacks, insults, violence, and condescension is the worst possible tactic one can use to change their minds.
Word to Democrats. All you are doing is a bad impression of the Tea Party and you may win some over but at the same time, you stand a better than even chance of driving more to Trump’s camp. Tone down the anger, vitriol, violence, and continuous diatribes against Trump, especially his supporters. The more you engage in your behavior, fewer and fewer will listen to the message sensible people are trying to get across. I can vouch for this approach because as mentioned in an earlier comment, someone close to me has changed their mind and it wasn’t done with the behavior so often the anti-Trump forces engage in. To update, when the anti-Trump people engage in their violent behavior, the person I was able to change will start to waiver.
When so many perceive Trump as the one person who stands up to the media and conventional politicians, they believe he is speaking for them and all of his other warts are of no importance.
Just something to think about.
Why aren’t Democrats holding town halls?
I won’t watch live but will catch the primary talking points later. Just can’t stomach watching the orange narcissist strut around like a damn peacock.
