The big mystery endorsement was indeed one of those I predicted: Former Gov. Jim Hodges. Hodges, touting his own administration’s success at economic development, cited his confidence that Sheheen is the best-prepared to generate jobs in South Carolina.
The Sheheen campaign is counting on dissatisfaction with the economy and the Republicans’ recent dismal performance on ecodevo to put a Democrat in the governor’s mansion for the first time since Hodges’ win in 1998.
I’ll have video up later today.
I’m getting misty-eyed thinking back to the glory days of the Hodges administration when high paying jobs were plentiful, high schools graduated 95% of their students, our roads and bridges were in pristine condition… and my fingers were not yet coated with the grey patina from scratch lottery tickets.
