Having just received an e-mail solicitation to this effect…
Adam invited you to join the Facebook group "1,000,000 Strong For Stephen T Colbert".
… I am faced with the necessity of making a decision: Do I want to be associated with such tomfoolery?
I’m just not ready to decide, though. I’ve been invited (by his attorneys) to brunch Sunday with this Mr. Colbert, so I’m going to wait until then to gauge how seriously I want to take him. Between now and then, I have got to get access to cable TV, and find out who he is… For all I know, he’s some empty name-dropper.
Brad,
You’ve been invited by “his attorneys to brunch”…!? Am I reading that right?
Who’da heck sends their attorneys to invite other people to break bread with them?
Maybe they’re gonna make you an offer you can’t refuse unless you want to be the main course for the sharks…
Hah! You’re kidding, right?
I’ve been wondering when you would get around to Colbert. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.
I am not making this up. It was weird enough that I just had to accept, even though it meant going to a different Mass from usual on Sunday. (How Colbert, an alleged Catholic, is justifying his own presence I know not.)
Apparently others were also intrigued. A message just went out to the guest list saying that if you did not RSVP already, forget it. They’re full up.
Here’s a link to a new SC political blog:

I think it’s based in Greenville, but I can’t find who the site owner is.
You can watch segments from The Colbert Report on the Comedy Central web site. He’s hilarious. Colbert and Jon Stewart are producing the best satire on television.
Let us know how the brunch goes.
