Graham on his road trip with McCain, Lieberman

K
ids have Christmas, and Lindsey Graham had his recent road trip with John McCain and Joe Lieberman to Iraq, the Mideast and Europe. To a foreign policy wonk, what could be better? I’d like to have been along myself.

Basically, he got to be at the elbow of the guy who, as he put it, has a 50-50 chance of being presidentFrance_mccain_wart
next time he talks to these foreign leaders, only under circumstances without all the formal bull you have to deal with traveling with an actual president.

Anyway, as this clip begins, he is giving his enthusiastic assessment (which now that I look back at the video, sort of stands in contrast to the merely polite description he gave of Gov. Sanford) of Nicolas Sarkozy of France, and goes on from there. This was near the very start of our meeting.

I guess he forgot to mention the fact that the same market area he and Senator McCain declared as an example of how safe Iraq was last year was now considered too dangerous to visit again this time around… even with the heavy military escort and Blackhawk helicopters overhead.
And I found it interesting that Senator Graham used the phrase “no matter what you think of his politics” a couple times to describe McCain… going to be a tough sell to get the Republican vote out this time around.

What I wonder is which Gramnesty aide gets the unsavory task of wiping up after our senator after he piddles on the floor around McCains feet. Maybe they do paper rock scissors or something. David

Lindsay Graham is poison to McCain, because he reminds conservatives of the secret Mexican amnesty deal that was thwarted by public outrage, of the working with Hillary, of the increases in H1-B visas to put more American programmers out of work, etc.

Progres shmrogress. Mortars falling into the Green Zone, 4000 dead (doesn’t include those who died en route to Germany or otherwise after the fact), 1,000,000 Iraqis dead, 2,000,000 displaced, all the professional/educated class people gone, neighborhoods that are “safe” are only so because of the ethnic cleansing and purging that has gone on, etc etc. Lies, lies, and more lies. . . but the MSM keeps printing/broadcasting them. Yay Team America–a kinder, gentler empire.
Oh and McCain-Graham 08 sounds good to me. That should get Ron Paul up to about 15%.

All you pro-occupation fanatics please check out these numbers. This whole “the surge is a success” business is complete utter nonsense. These are the civilian deaths in Iraq for the last 7 months. Notice a trend?

Lindsey Grahamnesty and his hero Juan McCain continue to spin the disaster in Iraq to any yokel who is willing to listen. Those two are such Middle East experts that McCain did not know the difference between a Sunni and Shia Muslim. Just unf’king believable!!!
And Brad just wishes that he could have gone along on the trip. Instead, Brad was back here race baiting about Obama’s preacher.
Vermin like Grahamnesty, Juan McCain, and their sycophants (like Brad) deserve each other. They should all move to Anbar Province to enjoy the wonderful democracy that Bush/Cheney gave to Iraq.

I think I will just write in Chuck Hagel’s name in November. His thoughts about the the current state of world affairs and how they got that way are dead on.
Brad I sent you an article on a World Quest competition a few weeks ago and wondered if you got it?

Just as I was warming up to McCain a little he went and blew it at the World Affairs Council in Los Angeles. His speech sounded as though it were written by the Council on Foreign Affairs/Trilateral Commission with excerpts by the Sierra Club and La Raza.
McCain promises the terra toasties a new round of Kyoto type treaties that will cost Americans more treasure and sovereignty. He wants to restart the G-8 summits and has no problem with unfair, unbalanced, unspecified and unregulated ” free trade. ”
In a juxaposition to Bush instead of trying to rule the world he wants the world to rule us. His immigration position is simply Bush 2.
In short we have a choice between two Marxists and one worlder internationalist. This ” Hobbes ” choice is not one that I am looking forward to in November. May God help us and I pray that some real leaders will emerge in the next four years.

Richard, who would be your choice for POTUS? I can’t get a handle on who the conservatives would have lead us. McCain seems so far out in right field with all his war bluster and tax cuts for the wealthy it’s hard to imagine anyone further removed from what I want.

Did you not have a problem with Saddam killing 1,000,000 Iraqis between 1992 and 2002?
How about the other 1,000,000 starved to death by the UN Oil for Food program?
Or the fact that Saddam is proven to have financed and trained the 9/11 hijack teams?
I think you are mostly angry that your Team Democrats didn’t get their hands on that war money for their vote-buying welfare schemes.

The 9/11 Commission Report – the full report, not the small one put out by Democrat staffers – itemizes the bank records showing Saddam’s tranfers of cash to Czech bank accounts used by the hijackers, who flew to Prague to pick up cash to take back to Florida.
The two main terrorist training camps captured intact, include videotape of hijacker training, and videotape of Saddam Hussein urging the class to, “Kill the Jews, but attack America first.

Saddam Hussein bribed at least 270 US, European and UN politicians to help him smuggle oil and sell it for cash, which was supposed to feed Iraqis.
GAO report details embezzlement and bribery.
We estimate that from 1997 through 2002, the former Iraqi regime acquired $10.1 billion in illegal revenues related to the Oil for Food Program—$5.7 billion in oil smuggled out of Iraq and $4.4 billion in illicit surcharges on oil sales and commissions from suppliers.
This estimate is higher than our reported May 2002 estimate of $6.6 billion because it includes 2002 data from oil revenues and contracts under the Oil for Food Program, newer estimates of illicit commissions from commodity suppliers.

    Regarding Lee Muller’s 9:42 comments:
I agree with Lee that granting amnesty to illegal aliens is wrong and that increases in H-1B visas hurts Americans, besides sending a bad messsage to high-school and college students that a career in technology isn’t wanted.
But why is working with the other side such an evil thing? This ain’t “Star Wars” with Jedi Knights battling the forces of the Dark Side! Republicans and Democrats are Americans, first!
I am on Brad’s side with his UnParty. I am damned tired of elected officials acting like spoiled brats on a playground threatening to leave with their ball or bat! I am tired of their partisan bickering.
I want a government that works! Not one that sits on their hands to make the other side look bad.
Lindsey Graham, not only works with Hillary, but with other Democrats. Cosponsoring a bill with Charles Schumer (D-NY), their legislation formed the genesis of the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003. While I disagree with that legislation because it should be titled “YOU CAN SPAM Act of 2003” because of its “opt-out” provision, it provided teeth to the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice to go after spammers. Without Graham and the Gang of Fourteen, John Roberts would not be sitting on the Supreme Court, or other judges that Bush appointed.

Mr. Burnette, I didn’t post any “stats”. I posted links to press releases from the DOJ about guilty pleas, GSA reports on the theft of oil money, and articles in the NY Times and BBC about 270 people bribed by Saddam. Those are FACTS, which you cannot dispute, so stop your silly lying to create a straw man about something I didn’t do.
    Mr. Hightower,
Working with the other side is a necessity.
Compromsing your principles or the rights of Americans is not acceptable.
If it is wrong to allow one H1-B worker to take an job from an American, or wrong to give amnesty to one illegal alien, it is wrong to compromise with anyone who wants to let in 1,000,000 H1-Bs or give amnesty to 30,000,000 illegal aliens.

What if that one illegal alien was ET? Should the government be wasting 30,000,000 dollars dissecting aliens,or would it be better spent preventing abductions?

Agreed that compromising the rights of Americans is not acceptable. The PATRIOT Act is a big stomp on our rights.
But I expect elected officials to act like adults and not children. If children want to legislate the perfect legislation, nothing will happen.
The venom from the Rush Limbaughs, Ann Coulters, and Rev. Wrights are harmful and contribute to the division of America. White evagelist preachers have the same problem as Rev. Wright; I just don’t have the time to research McCain’s controversial endorsement.

Democracy is not a form of government. It is a method used by forms of government. If you try to run anything larger than a small town as a democracy, it will fall apart when the majority decides to sit on the porch and vote to seize the wealth created by the minority who create all the wealth.

How about we move America away from mobocracy and back to the limited government of a Constitutional republic which it is supposed to be?
Or we can just let democracy continue to devolve into fascism, communism, or some other form of socialism.
