Andy Brack, former aide to Sen. Fritz Hollings, offers a link to an excerpt from the senator’s new book, Making Government Work.
From what I gather, it’s sort of a history of what once was, not science fiction. Just thought I’d head you wiseacres off on that one.
Here’s the link.
Ernest Hollings was the walking, talking prototype for the famous and hilarious Looney Tunes ‘Foghorn Leghorn’ character. So, this old democrat has written a book about what once was? It’s OK Brad, either you or Bud can have my spot in the book signing line at Barnes and Noble. This is a less than significant waste of paper by a man who was a much less than significant footnote in the annals of liberal history in this country. In short, Buds’ kind of guy. I still liked him better than Lindsey Graham though.
In any event, I don’t think I’ll be buying this book. My sock drawer needs attention. David
I’m fixing to go to bed and in the morning I’ll tune in to NBC to watch Meet the Press. But this will be a very sad viewing. Tim Russert will be greatly missed in the Bud household.
I want a chapter on how a senator making $50,000 a year in the 1970s could buy a 50 foot motor yacht.
Saw the Senator interviewed today on WIS-TV10 by David Stanton. At one point he matter-of-factly remarked that JFK & RFK were both murdered by the mafia. I sure do miss this guy being in the public eye and on the evening news. He was always good political theater right or wrong. Today’s crop of so called politicians is a poor substitute. Even though I’m a National Review subscriber (which should tell you all you need to know about me), I orderd the Senator’s book on line. Can’t wait to get it either for that matter. My only hope is that, for the most part, the words are his and not some editor’s. Politics is best enjoyed like scotch wiskey, straight without watering down.
