Coble Trek, The Next Generation

Daniel Coble, son of Bob, has thrown his hat into the ring for the Shandon/5 Points seat that Belinda Gergel plans to vacate after one term:

Dear Friends and Neighbors,
As many of you know, I have been considering running for City Council, District III, and after a lot of thought and conversations I have to decided that I am going to run for City Council, District III.  Bud Ferillo has agreed to be my senior campaign adviser.
I look forward to a positive and issue oriented campaign.  My number one priority is Public Safety and ensuring that we reduce crime throughout our neighborhoods. I also strongly believe that we must protect our environment to ensure the integrity of our neighborhoods.  This means working towards  a long and short term goal of fixing the flooding seen throughout our District, and also in protecting our trees that give our communities such great character.
Please feel free to call or email anytime.  I hope I can count on your support throughout this campaign and look forward to speaking with you all!
Sincerely,

Daniel Coble

I had to hear that from Kathryn Fenner. Daniel, why didn’tcha tell me? I mean, I sort of knew you were running, but anyway… We should get together, talk about this…

Apparently, he’s decided to run now because there will no longer be anyone else on Council named either “Daniel” nor “Coble,” thereby minimizing confusion.

Maybe he’ll inherit dear ol’ dad’s “Yes” stamp and continue funding everything that crosses his desk.

He met with me for several hours to hear my concerns and share his enthusiasm. He really impressed me.He’s seems very genuine and sincere. I liked his dad a lot, though grew a bit tired of the “yes” to everyone. Lest we forget, his dad is a very very impressive intellect, hidden behind the MayorBobblehead Aw Shucks persona. I believe young Mr. Coble will be like his friend, Seth Rose, who replaced Kit Smith on Richland County Council: a thoughtful, engaged leader.

I don’t know. I’m going to start by asking Daniel what he knows, when we get together later in the week.

And of course, if any of y’all have heard anything about other candidates, please share. I used to have a bunch of reporters working for me. Now, y’all are my reporters. And I’m sure glad we’re in a right-to-work state, otherwise y’all might get ideas into your heads on (non)payday…

Jenny Isgett, a lawyer and wife of a lawyer–a candidate for Juan Caruso, right?
    Moe of Moe’s Grapevine Restaurant
    and maybe Joe Azar?

There was a piece in The State, reported by Cliff LeBlanc about a week ago.

The most interesting inference to be drawn from Daniel Coble’s candidacy is that Steve Morrison is apparently not running–at least not for Belinda’s seat.

Now the horrifying thought is that E.W. could run for his old seat!

I loved the layout on the front page of The State today– “It might not be baby fat” in the same box as a photo of E.W…..

He will, and he’ll be elected back by the same people who voted him into office in the past. Columbia gets what it deserves, and they do it to themselves.

As I’ve said many times, “Thank God I moved out to Lexington”.

When will you decide on making a run? Time’s a wastin’. The best thing that would come from it would be that your eyes might be opened to just how corrupt the process and the participants are.

Doug that’ll never happen… Brad isn’t interested in moving to Columbia. He had his chance today to run for the Lexington City Council but I didn’t see his name on the ballot.
