Well, I’m feeling pretty satisfied today. Why? Let’s see:
- On Wednesday, we ran an editorial endorsing Bobby Harrell for speaker of the S.C. House.
- That same day, Rep. Doug Smith dropped out of the running for the post.
- This morning, Rep. Jim Harrison, who many had thought just hours before still had a chance, dropped out.
- At noon, the House — Democrats, Republicans, etc. — voted almost unanimously to elect Mr. Harrell. The one holdout was Rep. Dan Tripp, who was recorded as not having voted, so in a way it was unanimous.
Not that you can say there was any actual cause and effect between our editorial and these results. But still.
Allow me my little delusion.
With great power comes great responsibility – be careful of what you wish for.
But The State’s editorial board is usually logical and responsible. While I don’t agree with many of the positions you take, I do find your arguments generally well-considered and your outlook consistent. It’s that kind of track record that engenders trust.
Er, I think the time-stamping on your blog is on PDT, three hours slow.
Have you all outsourced to the left coast?
Kid,I don’t know what you mean about the time stamping. It looks right on my end.
I’ll post this comment and see if it works right.
You were right!
It must be a problem with the vendor I’m using for the blog. My support guru is out of town, so I might have to see about this next week.
Thanks for the heads-up.
I think Dan Tripp’s vote was bush league politics. The claims he made in the article weren’t supported by any other members. My guess is Mr. Tripp doesn’t plan to run for re-election, but if he does I would guess he will have primary opposition.
