25 bucks to see some no-name, My Chemical Romance wannabes?! That’s an almost equal outrage to the one you were highlighting.
Cap,I always took you as a Shostakovich guy,and not one to pick the obvious 5th or 10th as your favorite symphony. You’d be like,no way, man,it’s the 8th,that first movement is just so sick.
Wait until Lex, Lee, Doug, and Dave read BM’s thread. I can’t even imagine what will spew from their fingers. Some will probably be more demogoguery, but I agree that Rex’s judgement is questionable here and these boys will have solid ground to pounce on this.
As an educator, I simply would not put myself in that situation. I won’t even teach students the rules to black jack or craps even when we are learning about probability.
I wouldn’t even click on BM’s blog with Dave’s browser.
Not even with a 10 foot browser?
Does Dave have a 10 foot browser? Wow!
Self-identified Randfy Ewart,
Your students probably already know all the rules for blackjack, craps and any other game you can imagine.
What I found really interesting on McAlister’s site was another post that we probably wouldn’t ever see in The State or on this blog:
Karen Floyd gets black support for change>
If there’s any issue out there that will finally break the Dems’ monopoly on blacks, it’s school choice. Clearly that can’t be good for Rex, not that he has much of a chance in any case. It is very good for black kids and the rest of us, though.

Lexie tries out the victimhood-whine… mainstream press is biased against us lily-white Republicans. We’ve had to fight tooth and nail to win the governorship and majorities in both houses of the legislature without press coverage.
Why they’d refuse to even admit that a Floyd gets endorsement of some black leaders!
Some cheese with that ridiculous whine?
Well, even better, Randy. So it’s not just out there in what you would probably consider Kookland. Looks to me as if Rex is toast for sure.
Lex, school choice is great for Rex. ALOT of people are not for choice and/or are afraid of the effects. Rex gets to run as the candidate against Floyd and her pro-voucher buddies. He does not have to run on other issues to win.
Even if she does win, there’s a greater chance Lee will volunteer to sponsor a Young Democrats club at a public school than your plan coming even within a light year of realization.
I’ll add “kookland” to you calling me “troll”, belittling others, and other sophmoric dialogue which reveals a lack of civility and an inability for discussion without the playground tactics.
Not sure what kind of demogoguery you were expecting Randy, but in my case, I couldn’t care less about this non-event. A cash bar means the 21 years olds (or those who pretend to be) are buying their own drinks they probably would have bought somewhere else that same night. So what? 18 year olds can die in Iraq and you want me to be outraged over someone buying a drink? I’d be more concerned about teachers who drink than college students. But we know that doesn’t happen…
Rex’s campaign is on its last legs (even before it got started). Sure, Brad and his pals will try and stir up a voucher controversy as the election approaches, but it won’t matter.
Much ado about nothing.
Interesting post: “I don’t know what demogoguery you are talking about…Brad and his pals will try to stir up a voucher controversy”.
Yes, blame Brad and a his pals for being the ones to make this an issue. There are a large number of people that are against vouchers. There have been plenty of posts on here from people who simply do not want their tax dollars going to private schools. Such school choice has taken hold in very few places, and not simply because educators “fight tooth and nail” against them as Lex demogogues.
I don’t think Brad and his pals are campaigning across the counry as the pro-voucher crowd is.
Oh, so that’s what you knew I was going to make the subject of my “demagoguery”. I thought it had something to do with the topic of Jim Rex giving drinks to college students.
If you want to label me as a demagogue when it comes to giving children in failing schools more opportunity with my tax dollars, I’m 100% guilty.
Yes, you are guilty Doug, but that’s not why.
Pop quiz, Randy!
Please interpret the sentence below for us and tell us why you think “Kookland” had anything to do with you and why you would add it to your list.
“So it’s not just out there in what you would probably consider Kookland.”
As for your contention that “school choice is great for Rex” I guess we’ll just have to wait until November 7th. Methinks you’ll have several omelets on your face!
Well, since you ARE the self-selected arbiter of morality, I must then be guilty.
Bless me, Randy, for I have sinned. I have taken the Lord Randy’s name in vain. I have committed acts of moral turpitude like driving 5 miles over the speed limit, questioning the divine right of public schools to have unlimited access to my wallet, and saying “No Mas!” to illegal immigrants.
As penance, I shall say 10 Hail Mary Rosh’s.
Randy,
I’ll donate $10 to your favorite charity (Teachers Opposed To Speeders, maybe?) if The State can make it to November without producing three editorial pieces that link Floyd to vouchers.
Doug, that was probably your weakest efforts yet.
Let’s review. Brad said he was more concerned about speeders that illegal immigrants.
Doug says “Brad’s comment about being more concerned about speeding than illegal immigration was the most mind boggling thing I have read on this blog”
Then Doug makes the following critique because I provide data on the speeding related fatalities: “Well, since you ARE the self-selected arbiter of morality, I must then be guilty.”
You took the role of being moral judge. Brad and I simply stated speeding is a serious issue. You took issue with this position.
Lex, I did not take your “kookland” playground retort as being directed at me. I used it to show your pattern of pettiness in calling others names: “troll” “dense” etc.
Frankly, I am surprised that you stoop to calling people names.
Alcohol use and abuse by students is a growing societal problem. How can the E.Rex run the state education department if he is not aware of that issue? After November, the E.Rex will be in the Smithsonian, as part of history, right beside the T.Rex.
Floyd is the one who made vouchers a central tenet of her campaign. Slamming The State for writing editorials “linking” Floyd to vouchers seems to be a curious criticism.
Since The State editoriaol board correctly views vouchers as harmful to the SC public education system, why wouldn’t they make every effort to alert the public that Floyd favors vouchers.
Why, I’ll bet that The State even endorses Jim Rex. Talk about an unfair conspiracy!
Leave it to a Republican hack like BM to try to conjure some controversy out of a minor campaign event.
Lame.
Dumb move, but a non-story, especially for a newspaper.
>> Leave it to a Republican hack like BM to
>> try to conjure some controversy out of a
>> minor campaign event.
The same hack who will support Jim Rex and
the “stay the course” agenda for failing public schools? or the one who misses no opportunity to slam Sanford and Bauer? or the one who endorses Joe Lieberman for President?
I hope you were joking… Except for his misguided stance on Iraq, Brad’s policies lean heavily toward the left. Big daddy government, any and all taxes, no real reform for failing public schools, a “who cares” policy toward illegal immigration.
Oooops… apologies, RTH. I saw BM as BW.
Nevermind. Time for a trip to the optometrist.
RTH and Randy, Who needs a ten inch browser when I have a 63″ LCD flat panel display. Eat your hearts out.
You dog!
Yes, Brad leans “heavily toward the left”.
I love how we are pigeon-holed based on a few stances on issues. I’m regularly called a liberal. What is the threshhold for such labels, aside from a lack of discernment of the labeler?

A blessing from Jesus, no doubt.
For what are you compensating, hmmm? Paging Nurse Rosh, paging Nurse Rosh…
DR, no problem. Good luck with the optometrist. I’m going to continue referring to the resident Rethuglican hack blogger sponsored by The State as BM.
I get a childish amusement out of the dual meaning.
BTW, Brad, does The State have a true-blue Dem blogger or perhaps a moderate left-of-center? You seem to have a surfeit of rightwingers.
Capital A – God wants his children to be successful, spiritually and materially. As long as you use the material goods for good works in some way. I guess my watching Fox News on a wide screen may qualify, a little bit anyway. hahahahah But I do watch EWTN at times also and I know that qualifies.
What is EWTN? Enlighten me.
Please tell me it’s not some form of “religious” broadcasting… Actually, DO tell me so I can have a laugh. Nothing tops Kirk Cameron’s religious series for craps and giggles, though.

Eternal World Television Network – Catholic TV and radio.
It has the daily mass, daily devotions, educational programs, news etc.
There’s some good stuff, especially the daily mass. I can listen to it on the radio.
I’ve not had the pleasure, so I won’t deprecate it. It can’t be as unintentionally hilarious as the programming on TBN, can it?
