You gotta watch these political operatives

So I receive a nice bit of fan mail from a nice young man named Boling, and far too late, I realize that he has subliminally forced me to watch a video about John McCain…

Hey Mr. Warthen –

What is it about British accents that make the English sound
so smart? I liked the video on her Majesty’s General Consul. Speaking of videos,
I thought you might find the new McCain video particularly interesting. Here’s
the link: http://www.johnmccain.com/courageous/

Thanks,

B.J. Boling

Communications Director (S.C.)

John McCain 2008

And next thing you know, I’m a McCainiac Zombie, shambling about muttering in a monotone, "mccain is a hero. mccain epitomizes courage…"

But then, I was doing that before I saw the video.

McCain’s service record is something we all find commendable. And he’s probably a good (but by no means perfect) human being. That much I will concede.
But he would make a very poor president. He would continue with the disasterous failed foriegn policies of the Mr. Bush. And his domestic agenda is more of the same putting corporations first that has destroyed the middle class.
Instead I would suggest Hillary Clinton. There is a true American hero. A brilliant woman with an agenda that is both inspiring, relevant and practical. She has the experience and integrity to lead our nation out of the darkness created by 8 years of republican rule. She will use diplomacy to resolve differences rather than resorting to ham-handed abusive use of the military. Her proposal for a universal health care plan is just what the country needs.
John McCain, we salute your service to our country. However, thanks but no thanks to extending your offer for extending this service into the White House. Your extremist ideas are simply not right for America.

John McCain’s POW experience and his courage in facing a horrific situation with honor and patriotism doesn’t automatically qualify him to be President of the United States.
(Otherwise, why would guys like Bush and Cheney – who used all means to avoid service be qualified?)
His positions on issues that affect Americans today is all that matters. He was 100% wrong in most American’s view on immigration. That stance alone disqualifies him from getting my vote. He’s 180 degrees off on my view of what should be done in Iraq. Another huge reason why I won’t vote for him. And, finally, after he allowed the Bush political machine to defame him and his family in 2000, he did nothing to respond. Sometimes you have to fight back instead of showing how tough you are to take whatever abuse is heaped upon you. I’ll consider voting for John McCain when he calls out the political hacks in South Carolina and George Bush for their despicable tactics.
