I’m going to see if I can go ahead and get this out while I’m listening to Pub Politics:

  1. NLRB tries to kill SC Boeing project (CRBJ) — First time in awhile a local story has been my lede.
  2. France and Italy deploy to Libya (BBC) — More advisers on the ground. Meanwhile, the “White House notifies Congress that will send $25 million worth of ‘non-lethal’ military equipment to opposition, but resists joining Europe’s advisory team.”
  3. Director of ‘Restrepo’ Killed in Libya (WSJ) — Tim Hetherington was accompanying a rebel patrol in the western city of Misrata.
  4. Dow Jumps 1.5% to Highest Close Since June ’08 (WSJ) — Hey, I remember June ’08. I still had my job at the paper then… Meanwhile, Apple Profit Surges 95% as iPhone Sales Soar — probably because I just bought one.
  5. School choice bill defeated by Senate panel (Greenville News) — The Education Committee spanked it, 10-6.
  6. Baseball Takes Over Control of Dodgers (NYT) — I let sports on the page when it’s baseball.

Earlier today, Jennifer Preston of the NYT reported that “Mark Zuckerberg is wearing a tie.” But it didn’t quite make my front.

Every American should watch Restrepo and The Tillman Story before commenting on the relative merits of our engagement in Afghanistan.

      Yeah, tim. Amazing.

Haley has a clear pattern of thrashing around to find the version of “the truth” that is most advantageous, doesn’t she? Truthiness is her specialty; too bad she isn’t very adept at covering the signs of manufacturing!

I think “transparency” doesn’t mean what she thinks it means, do you?

Translucent? More accurately describes the kind of smoke and mirrors–lots of deflection and misdirection goin’ on chez Haley.

Colbert could make a “The Word” out of her apparent understanding of transparency.

Transparency was a pure buzzword, substance-free issue. She was the Republican nominee. Don’t f-up and she wins. So she just needed something to say on a stump speech.

But then, she is “The best Governor in America”.

Boeing’s tyrannical corporate elitists added 2,000 new jobs at their manufacturing facilities in Washington. How dare they suppress the “workers” by adding jobs in Washington and building a new facility here in South Carolina. Typical repressive behavior by capitalistic parasites.

I honestly believe she believes she is as transparent as a glass of water. She seems to share Sanford’s ability to see some alternative reality that is obscured to the rest of us.

@Bart, and @Brad: though I don’t care for the reflexive anti-unionism found down here, I’m not terribly sure of the merits of this NLRB case myself, to be honest about it. In fact, a rather creepy conspiracy theory popped into my head about this: the Obama campaign will never worry about offending SC since it will not seriously contest the state in 2012. Washington state, on the other hand, is a key part of the Democratic electoral strategy and is known for being very narrowly divided politically. Are there political calculations involved here?
