A few possible topics before I step away from the laptop for the day:
- Clinton holds clear advantage in new poll of battleground states — You know what? I wish people would stop saying she’s got a no-hitter going. Which I said on Twitter today in response to a truly blatant attempt to jinx her, headlined “Trump’s path to an electoral college victory isn’t narrow. It’s nonexistent.” I mean, come ON, dude… shut up! Meanwhile, more on her emails.
- 5 Reasons (And Then Some) Not To Worry About A ‘Rigged’ Election — This is from NPR. Like yeah, right — anyone who listens to Trump’s paranoid predictions is going to be reassured by public radio…
- After Losses, ISIS Moves the Goal Posts — Which is to say, ISIL is now a bit like the Black Knight in “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” saying “Have at you!” as he is hacked to pieces. BBC is warning of another possible consequence, saying, “EU ‘should prepare for jihadists‘”…
- Something something about Julian Assange — This is weird. Remember yesterday I reported on the Wikileaks creep saying Ecuador had cut off his internet connection, so yay Ecuador? I could have sworn I heard on the radio this afternoon that they were back up, and planning more efforts to get Donald Trump elected. But I can’t find any references to that via Google. Everybody’s still reporting the internet complaint like it’s new. Did I just dream the newer developments?
-
Columbia Mayor Benjamin on Clinton’s possible VP list, hacked email shows — Hey, it’s local!
-
SCGOP chair calls on Democrats to disavow Fanning — Also local. This almost, but not quite, made the VFP yesterday. Seems kind of weird that these 1993 charges emerge now, but hey, that’s what Trump says, too…
There have been sign on the interstate for months regarding this issue. I see them every day I drive into work. It’ll be years before this gets started so just chill.
Right behind the signs that say “Beware the Leopard.”
Yep, that’s where I go to study and absorb important information about my neighborhood — on the side of the Interstate, on signs that I’m whizzing past at 60 miles per hour…
Would you like a little cheese with that whine? I seriously don’t know how you could miss the signs. Perhaps Doug can weigh in on this as another government failure.
What signs are you talking about?
Signs, signs, everywhere there’s signs
Blockin out the scenery, breakin’ my mind
Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign
That Assange story is very weird. This morning, NPR led off its news report talking about Ecuador cutting off his internet — which I reported here TWO DAYS AGO. And I KNOW I heard something about his web access being back on yesterday afternoon, along with a clip of Assange saying crazy stuff about Hillary Clinton, how she was the devil incarnate or some such.
And yet I see no trace of it…
You’re welcome.
Which reminds me of something I Tweeted yesterday, just to pick at The Guardian, friend of Snowden and other people who hate this country:
But then, in defense of The Guardian (which I generally read daily), it’s now posting stuff like this: “From liberal beacon to a prop for Trump: what has happened to WikiLeaks?“
… as if WikiLeaks was EVER a good thing…
Sound advice for the debate tonight. Pick either candidate, it applies.
I copied this from a Pinterest post with a slight modification.
“Do not argue with an idiot. He/she will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.”
Corollary: Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.
