Someone this morning sent me something that I had to look for in my email Inbox, which I seldom visit. The Boston Globe regularly sends me headlines via email, so I saw this:
Elon Musk is not a Cabinet member. But as he addressed Trump’s meeting, it was clear where real power resided.
I didn’t have time to read it, but I did have a reaction: Trump has a Cabinet? (You know I haven’t been keeping up with such details lately.)
The idea of what Trump’s Cabinet would look like, all assembled together, now that he’s totally off the leash intrigued me for a second. But I almost immediately realized the answer to that. See the exclusive video below. Of course, it’s not exactly the same. Gov. Le Petomane was hilarious. There’s nothing funny about President Donald J. Trump or what he and his pals are doing to the country and the world…
As for Elon Musk, obviously, he’s Hedley Lamarr… No, not Hedy! She was a babe!
OK, ladies… yes, she was also a genius. (Which is what Elon thinks HE is, thereby increasing the confusion…)
Brad, I read your post about what a mess we’re in, and I couldn’t agree more. It’s deeply concerning when key figures shaping both our political and technological landscapes seem to exhibit traits that, under different circumstances, might be seen as personal challenges but here take on national and global consequences. One appears to struggle with impulse control, possibly relying on medication to manage it, while the other seems to operate in a world of logic so rigid it lacks fundamental human empathy.
In any other context, these traits might be manageable—maybe even beneficial in certain industries—but when you’re running a country or shaping the future of AI, space travel, and public discourse, the stakes are far too high. It reminds me of past political moments when we saw unchecked ambition paired with erratic behavior. The question isn’t just how we got here, but what it means for the future when decision-making at the highest levels feels more like a personal drama than a coherent strategy.
As always, I appreciate your perspective and the discussions it sparks. Looking forward to your thoughts.
Musktopheles:
I am the spirit that subverts.
And rightly so, for all that comes to be
Deserves to perish wretchedly;
‘Twere better then it never be.
Thus everything that you call sin,
Destruction, in short: malevolent—
That is my essential element.
