‘Yes, We Can:’ Obama music video

A colleague brought this excellent music video set to the words of a Barack Obama speech. I don’t know where this speech was made, but it has a lot in common with his victory speech right here in S.C.

Great words. Now, as to the esthetics… artistically, this one beats the "Obama Girl" all hollow. Sure, that one had much to recommend it, by traditional MTV standards. But unless I’m mistaken, this new one has Scarlet Johansson, who’s way more Babelicious than that other chick (OK, at least SOMEWHAT more so). And I’d like to see the Obama girl try to beat Kareem Abdul-Jabbar under the boards!

Thanks Brad, tremendous video. Finally, someone putting the essence of leader into the word leadership.
BTW, I thought Hillary was the candidate for change…or was that Romney?

Not one mention of Romney’s landslide victory in the Maine caucus. Yet, three (3) headline mentions of McCain in today’s online version of The State.
It is hardly the place to mention this, but the bias is too much not to mention. I will continue to mention it every chance I get.
Fair editor, while it is too late to make a difference, please do what you can to ensure fair coverage of the candidates. Your voice and opinion must be worth something down there.
Something tells me if Romney doesn’t win Tuesday, he’ll get more coverage than he has this entire cycle.
How’s that for fair journalism and coverage?
Ah, nothing like a good lapdog. You don’t respect them much, but they sure do what you tell them to.
    Good dog!

The Obama chant, “Yes, We Can!” is another rhetorical device he plagarized from a dead demagogue and recycled into his emotional toolkit.
It is a chant of the immigrant Mexican grape pickers organized in California in the 1960s by Caesar Chavez, a communist who was very much a student of early AFL, CIO, USW, and ILW organizing.

    “rhetorical device” ? LOL, it’s a SPEECH!
Si se puede! That was the actual chant.
Not only is this NOT a problem Lee, this is ingenious to attract Hispanic voters. My family is Hispanic. Si se puede!!
By the way, what about the Clinton’s co-opting “change”? Gee, that sounds familiar.

Howard, thanks for telling me Romney won in Maine; I didn’t know. Not that it matters.
And did you know he won in North Dakota? Wowee. Exciting stuff there.
As I type this, he could win in California. Now THAT would be worth reporting on.

People in NY and CA are dismissing SC, too.
The primaries and caucuses (even better) should be stretched out, with the smaller states going first, to provide an opportunity for the candidates to reveal themselves.
Of course, this requires an honest news media, which we don’t have, and for the debates to be taken back from the phony media and put in the hands of civic groups, as it used to be.
