Come back to my blog! It’s working now (I think)

The WordPress problems seem to have gone away. Or else my technical adviser Dave went in and fixed it for me when I wasn’t looking.

Anyway, I think it’s safe to come back. I’ve got my fingers crossed. Which really complicates typing…

    I had to log in again,but hey….

Y’all missed a great All Local Farmer’s Market today at 701 Whaley. We enjoyed some great brioche bread with lunch from Heather’s Artisan Bakery. I hope she means Artisanal, though….

I think it happened to everybody on WordPress.

Good thing I hadn’t started selling ads. My customers might have had cause to complain. I mean, y’all could complain, but then y’all aren’t paying…

With the killing fields becoming increasingly active in both Iraq and especially Afghanistan it’s now time to revisit the insanity of the whole Bush misadventure in that part of the world.

Sadly Obama is now being sucked into the vortex of endless war, quagmire, death and destruction. At the end of the day the warmonger attitude that has cost the U.S. and the world so much continues to hold sway over the pragmatists that understand the folly of imperialistic bullying. The Brits and the Soviets both discovered the cost of occupying Afghanistan and they both eventually left with their tail between their legs. We had our chance in 2001 after 9-11 to make a difference there. It was a time when the entire world was on our side and the people of Afghanistan were clamouring for a better life free of the Taliban. But because of Bush’s folly in Iraq the moment has passed. It’s time to urge our current president to end what is now a futile mission to build a respectable nation. It won’t happen now. And it’s a sad thing to watch as the president follows the advice of fools like Brad Warthen who see only war, death and destruction as a solution to the problems of the world. Too bad Obama has let us down.

Perhaps I will just stop voting. The warmonger mentality just seems too strong for any president to resist. And that’s a damn shame.

    bud,

Obama was left with the Granddaddy of Catch 22s. If he pulls out of Afghanistan, the government is likely to collapse and we’re back to Sept 10, 2001. If he perseveres he’s screwed because the Iraq War and how it was conducted undermined the opportunity for success in Afghanistan.

W and Cheney broke our freakin country and now the repugnicans do little but focus on “indoctrination speeches” and siding with Big Insurance so Obama “fails.” I fear that we’ve hit a tipping point in the history of the US.

    Randy,

Obama has the majority in both houses. What he needs to do is follow through with what he said he would do when he was running for President.

What we are seeing is the same old politics we’ve always seen from both sides of the political spectrum.

Where’s the Change We Can Believe In?

Our military won’t even admit how many civilians we killed last week when blowing up some gas tanks. How does killing civilians and children in the name of the “War On Terror” make us any better than the terrorists?

Pull out the ground troops. Use out superior technology to hunt and kill individual terrorists with special forces and drones. Burn ALL of the poppy fields.

Obama is Bush redux. It’s all about the spin.

Bush redux is like saying Brad is Glen Beck.

Obama was handed this profoundly crappy situation. W, on the other hand, CHOSE to invade Iraq and thereby sabotage our resources, the patients of our allies, and our moral high ground.

I completely agree with you about war and killing innocent people (give peace a chance). But are you suggesting that in January Obama should have simply pulled all troops from both Iraq and Afghanistan? No freakin way that would have worked.

Them’s fightin’ names Brad. “Mook” is bad enuf, but “Glenn Beck”?!! For a newsperson who distrusts hyperbole and generally dislikes partisanship that’s just not to be endured!
