Well, Alvin Greene has been unfairly besmirched once again by the MSM.
They claim that’s his voice howling “Noooooooo!” and “Goooooooo!” on that video clip. Or on this audio clip.
Actually, it’s the SC Democratic Party executive committee, begging Alvin to quit after his indictment.
At least, that’s what it sounds like to me.
Dude does not receive the Reality Channel. Oh well,it’s not like anybody else would have stood much of a chance vs. DeMint, unfortunately.
And while I couldn’t resist being a wiseacre on this, once again I feel sorry for Alvin.
It’s not that Alvin doesn’t receive the Reality Channel; it’s that in his world up to now, strangers don’t come to your door and demand that you answer questions about the more embarrassing parts of your life. What we accept as reality seems to him insane. And he doesn’t know how to deal with it. It sort of reminds me of an explanation of existential psychology I heard or read when I was in school (or perhaps it was just an explanation of the views of R. D. Laing) — the idea that in an insane world, a sane person will be judged insane.
We can rationalize that and say hey, he asked for it by running for office (and asked for it even more by showing a coed dirty pictures). But I don’t think Alvin had any idea that running for office would mean this. You or I would, but he wouldn’t.
And in fact, his experience during the primary would tend to reinforce his ignorance. After all, the media (except for Corey Hutchins with the Free Times) didn’t bother him at all during that, did they? So why should they now, if you look at the world as he does?
That’s not what it sounded like the night before when he spoke at their meeting, though:

Brad you just described Oliver Wendell Douglas in Green Acres.
While I’ve never shown porn to a college student, Alvin Greene is the perfect example while I, and many other, intelligent responsible people do not run for office. (Of course, it might be a braod step to say I’m intelligent or responsible, but I do read Brad Warthen.)
Clements FTW.
