He’s a great cartoonist, but I hope Ariail didn’t hit the nail on the head when he drew South Carolina bringing a mortar to a cannon fight.
I had exactly the same thought, Mark! I thought that’s a very odd way to use a mortar.
But I take it as cartoonist’s license. A mortar is funnier-looking.
Maybe he intends for it to be a carronade. But it’s definitely a mortar, and definitely shouldn’t be pointed like that…
