What do Alabama, Florida, Nebraska, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Washington state have in common?

Their attorneys general are all promising to file suit against the health care bill.

And yes, some of those states were not actually a  part of the Confederacy. But they’re out West, which means they were settled by people who couldn’t get along with other folks well enough to stay back East. Hence their radical libertarianism, which sometimes makes them indistinguishable from a certain flavor of white South Carolinian with which we are all familiar…

So what’s my explanation for Pennsylvania and Florida? Hey, don’t look at me! No theory is perfect…

    Brad,
“What do Alabama, Florida, Nebraska, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Washington state have in common?”

Suppose some of those states have AGs not running for their state’s governor? Hate to say it, but the other AGs will announce in several months that one of the aforementioned states’ lawsuit against the health care bill has a better shot than theirs, so they are going to wait and see.

Guess what? The lawsuit selected as pivotal will be dismissed by the court AFTER the Gubernatorial elections in November. If elected, said AGs get cover for inaction; the new AG for their state would have to follow up, not the new governor.

If not elected, the matter of wasteful costs to state taxpayers can be cited as rationale for inaction, since the most promising lawsuit was thrown out by the court earlier.

Yes, all of the AGs are not only lawyers, they are astute politicians capable of much worse than i have described.

The folks who demanded tort reform are suing?

Now, keep a sharp ear out for Republicans who take credit for health care insurance reform while bragging they voted against it.

    “attorneys general”

Florida and PA are swingy states these days, so maybe their AGs perceive political hay to be made?

    Kinda like ours does…

McMaster can’t win a lawsuit to save his life. Let’s see if he even files it, this is all for show for the gov race.

Love today’s State editorial asking why Henry can’t decide whether or not to prosecute Sanford. Seems he has no trouble deciding what to do when the politics require it!
