Happy opening day! Baseball has begun! The Red Sox face the Reds in Cincinnati at 4:10 today! (And as a preview, the Yankees demolished the Giants last night, 7-0.)
I hope I get back from class (which starts at 4:25) today in time to catch the last innings.

By the way, I originally ruined this celebratory post by ranting about a dumb campaign ad (from one of those seeking to be our next governor), and inviting y’all to contribute your own nominees for worst ad of 2026, yadda-yadda.
But the whole topic just sickened me — especially the idea of continuing such a discussion — and I took it down right after I posted it.
I just saved the happy, baseball part.
(What was the connection between that ad and baseball? The fact that I don’t usually see TV ads except during baseball season. I don’t watch live, commercial TV much otherwise. And now I’ll be seeing some. But it was a stretch as a connection, because I saw the offensive ad during a game show while stopping by my mother’s house last night. So never mind…)
