And we turn to the world of baseball…
Which is experiencing an annual pause, the All-Star Break, which I always hate. And especially this year.
My boys from Boston have a remarkable streak going — nine wins in a row, by far the longest in baseball at the moment. But now they’re resting, getting soft, losing the feeling of the streak — or so I fear.
And the first team they’ll face when the games start back is… the Tampa Bay Rays. As you can see above, those are the guys who are leading the AL East, and are three games ahead of the Yankees.
Fine, I say to buck myself up. The White Sox are leading their division (as you can also see above). And the Red Sox swept them last week, in Chicago. Hey, and remember a few days ago when I celebrated the fact that they were no longer in the Cellar? Well, now they’re up another notch, in third place.
But, I worry: That’s when the Bosox had the big Mo going, before this blasted Break. Now they’re sitting around… except for Contreras, Chapman, Rafaela and Suárez, who are in this thing today.
But, back on the first hand, the Tampa boys will be cold, too. Right? And maybe some guys will be off Boston’s IR list by then. Right?
I just wish the Break was over. I need some baseball. REAL baseball, not silly, gimmicky exhibitions…
