Liston Barfield supports Mike Huckabee

Barfield

… S
o does David Beasley. In fact, here they are together at the Mike Huckabee event at Hudson’s Smokehouse near Lexington last night.

Rep. Barfield complained to me tonight that he had been reported in the paper as being for somebody else, and he’s been for Huckabee ever since this time last year, back before it was cool. He started supporting Huckabee after it became screamingly obvious that George Allen wouldn’t become president any time this century.

He said he had notified folks in our newsroom today about the error, and he understood a correction was in the works, but since he seemed to want me to do something, I told him I’d tell everybody that he’s a Huckabee man on my blog. Which I just did.

George Felix Allen, that is, a man with, suspiciously, three first names.
His initials could be an abbreviation for granfalloon, Kurt Vonnegut’s “proud and meaningless association of human beings,” a group of people who purport a shared purpose, but whose association actually means nothing.
The State’s editorial board, for example.
Could Brad be using this post somehow to signal the board’s home planet?
Will the aliens from McClatchy be assuming their normal form soon to caress us with their slithering tentacles and bombard us with pronouncements from their blathering beaks?
Read Brad’s blog, where folks of all persuasions gather to make the necessary adjustments, to find out.
If doom is destined, you might as well be among the first to see it rear its ugly head.

Huckabee or Thompson? Well Thompson is a conservative who believes in the constitution, Huckabee not so much. I think I would choose Thompson.

I’m certain the Senator believes it exists. He is a self-confessed “Federalist” and believes in the ever growing scope of the Federal Govt. A real conservative would be more Jeffersonian and fight to reduce, not increase, the size and power of the Feds.

Just because Fred Thompson goes around saying he is the only “real” conservative among the Republicans, doesn’t make it so. And his twisting of Mike Huckabee’s record hasn’t helped him anymore than it helped Romney.
Does any intellectually honest Republican really imagine that this one candidate is the only “real” conservative. The record does not substantiate it.
There’s a site out there called Conservatives Against Fred Thompson that clears that lie up.
Today, Mike Huckabee became the first presidential candidate to sign NumbersUSA’s No Amnesty Pledge.
