This came in a little while ago:
For Immediate ReleaseJuly 13, 2010Press contact: Keiana Page (803) 799-7798SC Dems React To Haley’s Desperate Closed-Door Meetings“Transparency Candidate” Resorts To Backroom DealsCOLUMBIA-South Carolina Democrats criticized GOP gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley today in the wake of revelations that she is holding a desperate closed-door meeting to shore up her rapidly fading support in the business community. The meeting was revealed by a former Editorial Page Editor of The State, Brad Warthen, who was invited before being asked to not attend for fear he would write about the meeting.“Nikki Haley’s hypocrisy is mind-blowing,” said South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Carol Fowler. “She’s running for office on a platform of transparency, but she has refused interviews from South Carolina press, failed to disclose $40,000 in consulting fees paid to her for her “contacts,” denied public records requests using a legislative exemption, and now she’s holding closed-door meetings to wheel and deal her way out of trouble. Nikki Haley has undermined any claim she might have had to transparency.”Paid for by the South Carolina Democratic Party
Well, they spelled my name right. But it would have been nice if they’d mentioned the blog…
Well, really–there is no bad publicity for a blogger.
Brad, you did your journalistic civic duty with this one. This is simply honest information that the public has a right to know. If she wants to play the transparency card she better damn sure be ready to take her medicine.
“but she has refused interviews from South Carolina press”
She did 3 interviews with “South Carolina Press” last week…
She probably has Palin as a consultant and resorting to typical Palin tactics. She probably has a personal email account that she uses for legislative business.
Congrats for making this news!
Does Carol Fowler have ANY credibility? What exactly did she do to further the cause of the Democratic Party in SC? I mean aside from being the key person who allowed Alvin Greene to make a mockery of the party?
@sorenkay–there are interviews and there are interviews. If I had something to hide, I’d avoid the real journalists like Brad, and find me some cream puffs….
sorenkay sounds like Bill C. and his latest incarnation – starts with “M”, I think – who has been edited out some lately.
But, hey, we keep hearing about those 3 interviews – who did she talk to?
