Well, I’ve got it. What now?

Just got the above notice, from my test yesterday morning.

How am I? I feel like crap. I have since last night. I’m going to do a quick couple more work things, including a phone interview at 1 p.m., then I’m going to eat some lunch and lie down.

After that… what?

I thought when they told me it was “DETECTED,” they’d say, and here’s what you should do in addition to what you’ve already been doing.

I thought it would be like, I don’t know, getting a draft notice: “GREETINGS,” followed by specific instructions on where to report for my physical.

But nope.

Kind of anticlimactic, really…

When I say “I feel like crap,” this is of course a relative thing. As in, just sort of generally lousy.

I’ve felt much worse many times in my life.

I’m just going to take it easy today and see what happens.

    And thank God for vaccines…

There’s nothing substantial to do. Just let the virus run its course. Dr. Maturin would want you to get rest while you have symptoms, and then afterward, a fresh walk on the top-deck each day in the sunshine to get the blood flowing, combined with some exotic fruit from tropical islands should build you up.

Combine that with some toasted cheese in the evening and some good company, and you’ll be right as rain.

I will certainly follow the good doctor’s advice. And feel comforted that should things take a turn for the worse, he can whip my leg off as easy as kiss your hand….

Brad, odds are you’ll be ok. But I wouldn’t be too casual about it. We should all be thankful for vaccines. Sadly 2000 Americans are still dying from this, 90% unvaxinated. Even those of us who have been very careful are contracting it.
