Sorry about that little hiccup there

Sorry about my blog being down for a little bit there. If you were like me, you were getting a “Bandwidth Limit Exceeded” message instead of my blog…

It’s been fixed now, and my technical guru says he’s had to triple my capacity because “You’re getting more popular…”

Well, that’s a good problem to have, and I appreciate y’all’s patronage. But I’m sorry for the temporary inconvenience.

Yes that is a good thing, but remember more bandwidth equals more money to keep the site going.

Yeah, and I just took a big hit to my revenues — I was counting on having that Sheheen ad through the runoff, and to have Seth Rose and Scott Winburn in a runoff, too — but Seth won outright.

And Rick Quinn looks kinda close to winning it all in District 69, but I’m hopeful for a runoff there, just barely…

Y’know–you might want to diversify out of political ads….just sayin’

Well, duh. But that hasn’t worked out for me so far. Nonpolitical advertisers haven’t been beating down my door. Then I haven’t been knocking much on theirs, either. I’ve been busy. Now I’ll have to.

Funny thing — when I was at the paper, I would beg the advertising folks to sell my blog as an ad product. (I was working so hard at it, and the paper needed money so badly, I sort of wanted it to produce some revenue for the cause.)

I always got a vibe from the ad types that while they were perfectly comfortable approaching businesses, they felt intimidated approaching political campaigns (a logical customer base for the blog). They acted like there was something deep and dark and mysterious about politics and those who practice it.

Me, I’m the opposite. Politics makes all the sense in the world to me, and business seems deep and dark and mysterious — not my turf at all. So it’s easier for me to sell to the campaigns.

What I NEED is a salesperson who will work on commission and pursue businesses for me. I’ve taken a number of stabs at recruiting someone, but it hasn’t worked out so far. I need to try again…
